It's true, just the thought of packing your trunks and sunglasses and moving to Hawaii can be thrilling and exciting, yet daunting and nerve-racking at the same time. Don't worry; even though leaving family and friends to move to an island in the Pacific can be a tough decision, the Hawaiian community along with the Aloha Spirit of our state is one that is based on kindness, unity and harmony. There are obviously so many great reasons to move to Hawaii; we wanted to share with you though a few luxuries of paradise you may not have known about!
1. Life on the Island

Most people know the word Aloha only as a way to say hello or goodbye. While it is the way Hawaiian form of greeting someone, did you know it also is a way of life? Aloha's literal meaning centers around affection, love, peace and compassion which might help describe the Island Lifestyle that you experience when you move to Hawaii. Whether its the clerk behind the counter, the driver next to you on the road or the person in line at the grocery store you're sure to run into some of the nicest people you'll ever meet!
2. Save money on gas
Yes, the most obvious reason that'll you'll save money on gas is the fact that you are on an island and can only drive so far. But on Oahu, public transportation is a great option for getting around from the bus to the shuttles and ride sharing options.

The Bus provides routes that go almost anywhere on the island and most routes start right at Ala Moana Center in Waikiki! For most guest looking to explore the island in this way, we suggest the 4-day pass for $35. Bus passes can be found at any ABC Store or 711. Another contribution to this money saving perk of moving to Hawaii is the amount of "Live, Work, Play" high rises going up in Waikiki. Basically, a building with condos or apartments on the top floors, businesses and offices on the middle floors and shopping and dining on the lower levels so that you could have everything you ever need just an elevator ride or a walk away!
3. Explore the island and relax a ton all in the same day!
Imagine... Your eating breakfast downtown just before going for a walk on

Waikiki Beach and even a quick swim, snorkel or surf! Then, its back to your place real quick and out on your next adventure at
where you'll explore deep into Manoa Valley and up the 1.6 mile hike to a beautiful waterfall. Once you're done it might be time to cool off and go for a dip in the pool back at your condo and maybe an afternoon nap. This leads you right into the sunset time, which means pupus and mai tais at Dukes! After the sunset catch the beautiful firework shows near the Hilton Hawaiian Village every Friday night and close the night off with a warm nighttime walk.
4. The local food scene.... is AWESOME!

Malasadas, Shaved Ice, Fresh Ahi Poke and Plate Lunches just to name a few of the many local favorites! And in Waikiki you can get almost any cuisine! YUM. And for those that don't know, a Malasada is a rich dough that is deep fried and coated in the perfect amount of sugar and sometimes filled with creamy custard. How it still isn't very popular on the mainland, we have no idea.
Here are a few or the best kept secret food spots in on Oahu: Rainbow Drive-in, Ono Hawaiian Food, Leonards Bakery, Itchy Butt Chicken, and a local favorite L&L Hawaiian BBQ!
5. It's always beach weather!
Yes thats right, pretty much 7 days a week you are in for warm weather and sunshine toes in the sand and jumping in the ocean. Yes, there is rain on most days but it usually goes away quickly and the weather and water stay warm anyway so, why not?

Warning: You will experience this type of weather year round and this could lead to maximum beach bumming and relaxation.
